This review is from Camp the Mitten member, Lisa who visited Aloha State Park in September, 2017.
We camped on site 39 which was a large, shaded and waterfront. In fact, most of the sites here are large and able to accommodate bigger RVs. We enjoyed the views of Mullett Lake and were able to site by the beach right in front of our site. This site would be a great if you brought a boat and anchored it right behind the campsite for easy access.
The campground has its own boat launch and a large boat basin where you are able to pull your boat up to your own campsite and leave it for the night. And, it can accommodate larger RVs with its spacious campsites. The downside to this park is that much of it is wide open with full sun and not many trees. If you like wooded campgrounds this might not be the park for you.
We don’t have young children but we took note of a large children’s play area that would be great for kids to play.
Aloha is located approximately 8 miles south of Cheboygan which has plenty of restaurants and site seeing areas. You are also close enough to drive to Mackinaw City and tour Mackinaw Island from this location.
The Aloha General Store, located at the park entrance makes fresh donuts daily and they are perhaps the best donuts we’ve ever eaten!
