Munising Tourist Park

Munising Tourist Park Campground Review

This review was shared from Camp the Mitten member, Lisa. Lisa and her husband visited this Munising Tourist park, a city owned park August, 2016. We haven’t had a chance to camp in the upper peninsula yet but can’t wait to get up there when our kids are a bit older!

When we first arrived, we camped on site was just across the road from the waterfront campsites with a view of Lake Superior. During the middle of stay, we were able to move to a lakefront site right on Lake Superior. What a treat! The beach was really great, it was so warm we were able to swim in Lake Superior!  We were also able to enjoy beautiful sunsets right from our site.

This campground seems to be very popular so make your reservations well in advance of your trip. We watched people come and go being turned away from the office as they were full.  They have an online reservation system which makes booking sites super easy! It looks like you can begin booking in October ahead of the next summer season. The location of this park is perfect for visiting the Pictured Rocks and for enjoying beautiful views of Lake Superior.

While in Munising, we did Pictured Rocks Boat Tour. We chose the Falls tour and were lucky enough to ride in a newer, larger catamaran. Seeing the Pictured Rocks is really a must see if you’re visiting this area! The tour took about 3-4 hours and you want to try to purchase your tickets ahead of time online, if possible.   We arrived at the dock early so we could get a good seat because the boat filled up quickly. We were able to grab seats on top. Don’t forget your sunscreen and hats! And, if you’re hungry after the boat ride, a trip to Muldoons for their delicious pasties is an absolute must. You can’t miss it – it’s the yellow building with Bigfoot out front!
